CALGARY 2009
Dreams Take Flight Canada / Voyage
De Reve is a registered children’s charity in Canada. Dreams
Take Flight Calgary is a chapter of Dreams
Take Flight Canada / Voyage De Reve which consists of a group of Air
Canada Employees, family members and associates who volunteer to raise money to
take terminally or chronically ill, mentally, physically, socially or
emotionally challenged children to Disneyland for an all expense paid one-day
trip to the happiest place on Earth to see Mickey and his friends. Dreams
Take Flight may also gift funds not required for its primary purpose to other
registered charities that benefit physically, mentally or socially challenged
children and are within the policies adopted by Dreams Take Flight Canada. Money is raised throughout the year in several ways. The charity holds a fundraiser on the first Sunday of the Calgary Stampede called Black Tie & Blue Jeans Dance and Silent Auction. This year the 15th annual Black Tie & Blue Jeans fundraiser will take place on Sunday July 5th, 2009 at the Westin Hotel. For the past five years Dreams Take Flight Calgary has been honored to benefit from the Cardel Homes Golf Tournament that is held at the Stewart Creek Golf Club in Canmore, Alberta. Dreams Take Flight also sells Dreams Take Flight logo merchandise and accepts donations to finance the program. Air Canada Kids Horizons donates a Boeing 767-300 aircraft for the day to fly the children to Los Angeles. The money raised throughout the year is used to pay for aircraft fuel, immigration fees, buses to Disneyland, gate admission, spending money, food, hats and clothing to identify the children and escorts, gifts for the children and related expenses to put fundraising events together and to plan the flight. Dreams Take Flight is grateful to have wonderful sponsors who donate services, money or products to enhance the Dreams Take Flight program. Air
Canada employees donate their time to fundraise, plan and operate the flight and
administer the charity. These employees include pilots, flight attendants,
passenger and cargo sales personnel, administrative staff, ground handlers and
maintenance employees. The Dreams Take Flight volunteers plan the adventure and look after the details to make this a great memory for the children and escorts alike. 2008 marked the 16th anniversary for Dreams Take Flight Calgary with 138 special needs children traveling to Disneyland on October 22nd, 2008 with Dreams Take Flight. During the sixteen-year history of Dreams Take Flight Calgary 2,089 children have visited Disneyland with the Dreams Take Flight program in Calgary. The charities goal for 2009 is to operate the Dreams Take Flight charter on October 21st, 2009 and to invite 138 children on the Boeing 767 aircraft to celebrate Dreams Take Flight Calgary 17th anniversary and 19th flight. Dreams Take Flight Calgary appreciates your support in helping to make Dreams Take Flight 2009 a reality for the special needs children who live in Calgary and Southern Alberta.
